Temperature Switch

Temperature Switch

Description of that temperature switch (based on your product type)

This is an industrial temperature switch (mechanical thermostat type) used to automatically control or protect equipment based on temperature.

What it is

It is a capillary-type temperature switch with:

  • A temperature sensing bulb
  • A capillary tube (thin metal pipe filled with fluid)
  • A switching unit with electrical contacts

How it works

  1. The sensing bulb is placed in the area whose temperature is to be monitored.
  2. When temperature increases, the fluid inside the bulb and capillary expands.
  3. This expansion creates pressure inside the system.
  4. That pressure mechanically moves a diaphragm/spring mechanism.
  5. The mechanism opens or closes an electrical switch at a preset temperature.

So it works purely on mechanical pressure changes due to heat, not digital electronics.

What it does in a system

Depending on wiring, it can:

  • Turn a heater OFF when temperature is too high
  • Turn a cooling system ON when temperature is too high
  • Act as a safety cut-off (overheat protection)
  • Maintain temperature within a set range using ON/OFF control

Key characteristics

  • Adjustable temperature setpoint (via dial)
  • Electrical switching contacts (usually changeover type)
  • Remote sensing (bulb can be placed far from the switch body)
  • Suitable for high-temperature industrial applications

Simple one-line definition

It is a mechanical device that uses fluid expansion in a sealed capillary system to switch an electrical circuit ON or OFF at a set temperature.
